HOW DID USA VOTERS GUIDE COME ABOUT?
During the last local election, the staff at USA Voters Guide felt that voters did not have an objective, reliable source of information about positions taken by the candidates on key issues. In our opinion, the closest we came to such a source of information was the Candidate’s Forum sponsored by the local newspaper, held just weeks before the election. At that forum, all of the candidates gathered in one place, and took turns stating their position on key issues. It seemed to be very well received, but unfortunately, only a small fraction of voters attended.
After some meaningful dialog, we began to think that what voters need is an on-line Candidate’s Forum, which would be free to both voters and candidates, and would be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s our hope that USA Voter’s Guide becomes that forum.
HOW WILL VOTERS BENEFIT FROM USA VOTERS GUIDE?
Knowledge and understanding of how Candidates stand on various issues will help undecided voters make a more informed voting decision. In addition, voters will have the opportunity to participate by submitting election information and sponsoring key issues effecting the election.
HOW WILL CANDIDATES BENEFIT FROM USA VOTERS GUIDE?
Candidates benefit from participation with USA Voters Guide on many different levels. Here are some of those benefits:
HOW IS USA VOTERS GUIDE FUNDED?
USA Voters Guide is a "for profit" business, and does not receive any funding from the government, lobby groups, or any organized political party. We strive to treat all elections and candidates equally, regardless of the size and scope of the election, or the number of candidates running for office.
Primarily, our funding comes from individuals and businesses who feel so strongly about a particular candidate that they are willing to spend their own money to help their candidate get elected. We call them "supporters", because they support their candidate by (1) purchasing an Enhanced Candidate Listing on their behalf, and (2) sponsoring key questions or issues. In short, our funds come from supporters, not candidates.
HOW IS USA VOTERS GUIDE BEING PROMOTED?
Like other websites, USA Voters Guide uses traditional media sources, including newspaper, magazines, radio, television, and links from other websites for marketing purposes. While these media sources are important, we place an even greater value on the "word of mouth" generated by voters, supporters and candidates. We believe in the concept that undecided voters tend to place more importance on what they hear from their friends, relatives and co-workers, than what they hear from the media. In other words, undecided voters will visit this website just because their friends, relatives and co-workers have told them that USA Voters Guide is the most objective and reliable source of information about where candidates stand on important issues.
WHY ISN'T EACH CANDIDATE'S POLITICAN AFFILIATION IDENTIFIED?
Research indicates that more voters than ever are voting outside "party lines" when choosing candidates to support. The days of voting a "straight ticket" are diminishing rapidly, placing a greater burdon on the candidates to communicate how they stand on important issues. USA Voters Guide has intentionally ommited references to "political affiliation" so that voters can make the most objective choice possible when it comes to voting. Instead, the candidates are listed in alphabetical order based on their last name.
